Amazon plans trucking incubator program
This week, Amazon announced it would launch a new incubator program "to train hundreds of people to launch their own trucking businesses exclusively transporting freight for Amazon." The program, known as the Amazon Freight Partner Incubator, will give participants loans, training, and small business support.
The proposal claims that Amazon is "nearing exhaustion" of carriers to recruit who meet their safety and performance standers. Amazon used to rely on shipping giants like FedEx and UPS but is hoping to double the size of their own US trucking fleet "as part of a push to speed up shipping times and reduce costs."
