The Future of the San Francisco Bay Area’s Diablo Valley

The 680 Innovation Corridor

The Challenge
Every day, thousands of highly skilled tech professionals living in the Diablo Valley — from Lafayette and Walnut Creek to Concord, Pleasant Hill, Danville, and San Ramon — travel 60–90 minutes each way to jobs across the Bay Area. These long commutes pull people away from families, strain local infrastructure, and diminish overall quality of life.

The Vision
Transform the 680 Corridor into a connected network of technology satellite offices and hybrid‑work hubs — modern, community‑centered workplaces that bring innovation closer to where people actually live.

The Goal
Unite cities, employers, commercial real estate owners, educators, and community leaders to create a shared regional strategy that supports distributed innovation and reduces the need for long-distance commuting.

Core Impact
A thriving 680 Innovation Corridor delivers:
• Time returned to families and communities
• Stronger local economies powered by daytime activity and local spending
• Healthier commutes and reduced environmental impact
• More resilient, innovative companies supported by happier, more rooted employees
• A region that reflects how people want to live and work today
